I have yet to write a support update so here goes.
God has placed me in a city with no real family near but these people that do surround me are continuing to astound me. (You like the rhyme? You know you do.) I am very blessed. I’ll say it again. I am VERY blessed. These people here in Baltimore have truly become my family away from family.
I attend Brooklyn Church of God. I am the Administrative Assistant for the church. The church has made a deal with me that they would keep $100 of my salary each week in a bank account and at the end of summer cut me a check for the whole amount to put towards my trip. Well that was really nice, saving made easy because the money never touched my hands. Well as if that wasn’t a blessing enough they decided to up it to $150 a week. PRAISE THE LORD!
Also, they are giving me a spot in a Sunday Morning Service to present my trip to the congregation and take up an offering. Well, a missionary to China presented to our church a few months ago, the church did not know her, our projector wasn’t working so she wasn’t able to use her power point presentation, and she only spoke for about 5 minutes. The offering for her was around $1,500. So, I don’t know what the offering will be when I give my presentation but my guess is that it will be close to the same or larger just for the fact that I have relationships with many of these people.
Another blessing is a lady named Denise. She has a heart for missions and wants to help me plan fundraisers. This is great because I kind of felt like I was an ant looking at a mountain and trying to climb to the top when it came to figuring out the fundraising world. We are going to have tables at 2 upcoming yard sales, the guess is that it should be a good turnout. She is also helping me plan a Mary Kay/Home Interior Candle party. And she says she has a few more ideas cooking around. I just meet her a few months ago, it was one of those God appointed meetings I do believe. I pray wonderful blessings into her life.
I have another friend who can’t afford to hand over money and I totally understand. Being the wonerful person and great friend she is, she still wanted to help somehow. She is a Mary Kay consultant and has decided that anyone who orders from her with my name, she will give me 50% of the profit. It’s called Makeup for Missions, I’ve got handy dandy flyers and everything. Much love goes to Adelle!
Oh and I sent my letters out today finally so we will see what comes of them.
As of today I have $2,400 saved. Only $7,600 left to go. Slowly but surely I’ll get there.
Ain’t it amazing how God opens so many doors when you’re going in the direction he wants you to? I will be praying for you and that your support continues to pour in.
God bless ya!
