Sorry it’s been so long, time can get away from you here in Africa, just like it does in America. I’m still in Jeffreys Bay and everything is going pretty well. Christmas day was a little strange. Christmas is a big deal here but not a huge deal like it is in America. We did our best to try to make it special. Two other girls and me decided that we would try our luck at cooking Christmas dinner just like our Mom’s always have. It was pretty hard work and we appreciate our Mom’s a lot more now but we were successful. We had turkey, home made stuffing, ham, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, glazed carrots, relish trays, rolls, chocolate pudding, and jello. We also had a big breakfast that morning that we had all the original stuff except pancakes b/c apparently pancake mix is not big here in South Africa or pre-made pie crust. We had like 15 Americans at dinner and everyone said it was great so we were proud. Except all the boys ate all the leftovers the next day and we didn’t get any!
It’s like another 2 and some weeks until I head off to Kenya. I can’t wait to get to there and dive into ministry. Right now is our holiday vacation time that we are taking to recouperate ourselves after a hard first 3 months. Some mornings I am amazed at the places God has brought me. I wake up and go out on the balcony that is connected to the girls bedroom and I can see the ocean off in a distance. On Christmas morning we actualy got up and watched the sun rise and we read the Christmas story out of the Bible. Times like those is when it hits home how blessed my life really has become. This is my house here in J Bay.
Well sorry for this scattered blog but that is how my mind is right now.
